STEAMED MUSSELS





Shannon and I stopped to visit Bjorn and Christine's cabin on our bikeride along Hood Canal...and discovered a field of mussels on their beach...we learned how to harvest mussels... never cut off the beard...and loaded bags of the delicacies onto our handlebars...I'm sure we made quite a site as we traveled back down the road on our bikes...with the chef's rules fresh on our minds, we cleaned and rinsed and cleaned...we opted for the spanish version with a little cream, wine and saffron...then clipped the beards away just before adding the mussels to the sauce...so many...we had to recruit the neighbors to help us eat them all...
