Grandma's Christmas Babies

Grandma's New Cabin

Grandma's cabin is on Lopez in the San Juans... about 2 years ago, excessive winter rains and a broken septic line created a moldy nightmare...

so we opted to tear down and rebuild....

the structure passed its final inspection last month....but the inside will be unfinished...

which gives us the pleasure to move forward at a more favorable monetary rate...

we will keep comfortable and warm...as there is propane and electricity and water...

view to the northwest....

view to the south from the upstairs loft...lots of privacy back in the woods...

view to the east...looking at Humphrey head through the kitchen window...

ferry passing through Upright Channel...between Lopez and Shaw...

back porch

view from the ferry terminal...

Uh Oh...Grandma has Frozen Pipes

the pipes burst and the flood of water created icicles everywhere...

found the problem...just too cold for too long...and the pipes under the eaves froze...

these copper pipes will soon be replaced with a new technologically advanced plastic product...
